Wickes Furniture, Sepulveda Bvldl, Van Nuys, CA - upset with quality of purchased furniture

Complaints.com received the following consumer message on February 16, 2003:

Wickes Furniture (Sepulveda Blvd. in Van Nuys)

I purchased less than two years ago a sofa, love seat two armchairs and a ottoman and two lamps, japanese style.

The sofa had three dark brown legs and one light unvarnished. I had to take it off myself and paint it to match the other three.

The Loveseat had all the legs light colored and I had to take them off and paint them.

The lamps which are made up of the post and a base made up of two smaller square ones was all lose and I took them back. They tightened the screws but in the process they cut the felt on the bottom and left it that way.

The ottoman's fabric is coming apart at the corners after very little use and I had to mend it myself.

And finally, one of the chairs leg broke and I had to spend $150 to have it fixed.

The furniture and everything else I purchased at Wickes is the worst quality furniture I have ever purchased and they will not see me in any their stores ever again Henry Bensimon
