Hewlett Packard - purchased PSC-950 multi-function unit - scanner and fax didn't work - at least 3 hours on hold on toll call - no toll-free number available - very upset with HP

Complaints.com received the following consumer message on February 15, 2003:

The lousiest customer support I have ever seen. Bought an all in one system for which only the printer worked, a month after I bought my need came to use the other functions, scanner, fax, copy, etc. The scanner and fax never worked. I called the only number in the nation available, a NON-1-800 service line at which I have now spent at least 3 hours in two weeks never to talk to anyone, yet the charges roll. Finally one night after 45 minutes of time I DID NOT HAVE, at 9:45 PM, I talk to an individual that kept me on the line for the next 30 minutes going around in circles, finally he had me de-install the driver, at the point of re-installing, HIS (not mine) phone line was cut off, of course he didn't call back yet he had my phone number in front of him. I've never been able to get through since. Tried to download a new driver. You have to buy one @ $25 and it comes in the mail and how do I know that is my problem, they cut me off, never got to find out. Tried to bring it in for a warantee exchange. The PSC-950 has been dis-continued. No chance. Conclusion: I will never buy an HP product again. I will avoid them like the plaque. I do intend to send them my phone bill athough I'm sure they'll laugh at me.
