On December 26th, 2002, the owner of Jim's moving company came to my home at 3016 N. 126th Street in Omaha, NE to provide me with an estimate to move to my new address at 15111 Martin Avenue (a distance of 6 miles). After examining the full contents of my home, Brad provided me with a quote in the range of $784 to $840. The company charge $1155 to complete the work. In his letter of January 16, 2003, Mr. Woodle claims that he provided an estimate to move very specific items such as two bicycles and an unknown number of boxes. This is simply untrue. I called Jim's moving company to provide me with an estimate to move the entire contents of my home, and it is senseless to suggest anythng to the contrary. It is certainly not a common practice to provide a quote to move some items and then subsequently charge for moving the remaining items like the nonexistent wheel barrow and ladder that Mr. Woodle refers to in his letter. On the service quality issue, Mr. Woodle claims that I called his office to complain only about the travel time required to make a second trip. This is also untrue. I called about the cost of the actual time versus the estimate--period. His account of the situation in his letter of January 16th is completely distorted to cast his company in the most positive light. Mr. Woodle was not present during the move and therefore was not aware of the fact that the washer and dryer were not re-connected in the new home as he claims (It might surprise Mr. Woodle to learn that I had to purchase a different electrical outlet to completely install the dryer!).
