Nissan Pathfinder 2001 - speedometer off by 4 miles per hour
I purchased a new nissan pathfinder in October of 2001. It runs great , but I took it on a trip of about 1500 miles and at the posted speed limit plus about 5 miles per hour nearly every car on the road was passing me.
I did not think that seemed quite right ,so when I got home I checked the speedometer and found that it was off by at least 4 miles per hour and the odometer was also off in the same direction. In November I took it in for a 3000 mile oil change and told the service manager about the speedometer expecting to get it corrected.
When my wife went to pick up the vehicle the service manager said he talk with Nissan Tect Support and the speedometer was within their range of acceptance which is 6 miles over or 4miles under.
My wife told him that I would not accept than explanation and she was right on a $30,000 vehicle. I have contacted Nissan North American 8 times and have got nowhere with them.
I have now filed with AUTO LINE BBB at 1-800-955-5100 to get a third party involved. This is a thing used by the automobile companies to settle disputes. I hope this works out, if not I will keep you informed.
This problem also affect the length of warranty coverage in miles. I think you will find this is a problem affecting a lot more than one Nissan Product
Thank You Hershel Mayle
