2002 Chevy Avalanche in repair for 5 months We bought a 2002 Chevy Avalanche in October of 2001. One week after we purchased the truck, my husband got into a accident where he went off the road and did a significant amount of damage -- with only 400 miles on the truck! We contacted our insurance company and they instructed us where to have the truck towed.

It's almost March 2002 and we still don't have the truck back. The repair shop blames General Motors for not having parts available. We have contacted General Motors and they are the problem. Unfortunately, we didn't have car rental on our policy, so we have been renting a car for 5 months -- at our expense.

At this point, we wish we could get out of this deal altogether, but we did cause damage to it.. Anyone have any advise? I was looking into Lemon Law thinking there might be something there, but again, it was our accident that caused the damage. Shouldn't Chevy be liable somehow? Isn't it an assumption that when you buy a vehicle that spare parts are available?

Elva H.
