Neoprene hinged knee brace, Docortho.com

October 15, 2006

Dear Sirs, I purchased a high-quality neoprene hinged knee brace online from Docortho.com. On their website, Doc Ortho lists sizing information, complete with circumference of various locations on the leg which this brace will fit, at different sizes. I used measurements taken by my physical therapist, as well as having my husband do new measurements to insure there was no error or change. I then ordered the brace which listed a thigh size of 21-25 inches, which would fit well on my 22 inch thigh at the point 4 inches above the center of the knee, as the website says that is where to measure. I paid $150 for the brace, plus an additional $30 for shipping. Upon receiving the brace, I removed it from the box and attempted to put it on. It wouldn't fit up my leg as high as my knee, much less above it. My husband, whose knees are much smaller than mine, tried to put the brace on his own leg and was unable to apply the brace as highly as it was supposed to be worn as well. His thigh measured 18 inches at the given location. I checked the sewn in tag, to insure I had not been sent the incorrect size, as it was so incredibly small; the size was what I had ordered, which, according to Doc Ortho, should have fit quite well. I then called Doc Ortho's return line. When I advised the woman of the problem, she laughed at me and said I was the only one to have such a problem, and that clearly my leg was simply too fat for their products. I informed her of my measurements, and she stated I was not measuring correctly. I then informed her of my husband's measurements, and again, the fault was mine. I was told that, in order to receive a refund of the purchase price only, shipping for both ways was out of my pocket. By the time it was all said and done, I paid $70 for nothing more than some woman in Florida telling me I was too stupid to work the complexities of a medical tape measure. I would highly recommend against anyone purchasing from this site, as their measurements are terribly off, and the shipping, handling, and restocking fees end up merely costing customers money for no goods supplied. Perhaps the restocking fees is how they make their money; they certainly don't make it off of selling the products advertised. Thank you, Leah
