Hoover Floormate cleaner for hard floors

October 14, 2006

I bought mine about 3 years ago. I noticed that my vinyl floors began to look dingy and I thought that it was becoming stained and couldn't be cleaned. I finally got down close and discovered that my floor was covered in a film of wax and built up dirt. I tried my Floormate, but it wouldn't clean the film, so I took it to one repair place and the owner said that when these were made, they weren't tested; that the engineers were told to just send them on to production and they would deal with the complaints later.

Well, we took it to another place and they said the brush needed to be replaced and something was broken inside, but it would work better with a new brush. We asked them to repair it and replace the brush, which they did. However, it really doesn't clean much better. The film on my floors has to be cleaned with ammonia and hot water and most of it requires use of a brush. The Floormate does a spotty job of actually vaccuming up the dirty water, but it does IF you get the dirty water tank on correctly.

All in all, I would advise anyone to NEVER buy one of these because you can do a better job with a good mop, cleaner and a brush when necessary. Just steer clear. Hoover doesn't stand for a brand you can count on anymore. It produces cheaply made and poorly constructed items.
