MicroCenter Computers MicroCenter Computers October 14, 2006 I took my computer to MicroCenter Computer stores to have them diagnose a problem. Although they have a very good free walk-in tech support service that can diagnose and usually solve simple problems (if you happen to get the GOOD tech), once your problem gets escalated to the techs in the service department, forget it.You're better off working with phone tech support for the hardware itself. After two tries and two and a half weeks, my computer worked worse than when I brought it in. They don't call with progress reports, and when you try to call, they can't find anyone who can actually respond and tell you what might be going on. When I finally went in and told them to quit because I was going to try to find someone competent, they just tried to blow me off with "Well, we don't think there is a hardware problem." This despite the fact that the one competent tech there who had looked at it hooked the drive up to another machine, and it booted and ran just fine. The store does carry a great selection of stuff at pretty good prices, but unless they have something you just can't get anywhere else or need right away, it's probably best to order online.
