Headphones disappeared from carry on bag during a flight w/American Airlines

October 12, 2006

Lock everything you hand over to American Airlines people when you travel with them. This claim does not target all American Airlines personnel but reflects American Airlines poor customer relationship. Asking a loyal customer to forget about this incident is not enough. During my flight from DC to Boston, my headphones disappeared from my carry on bag. Before I entered the plane I was asked to hand over my bag. Naturally since I was not aware that I was going to be asked to do that, I did not carry a lock with me and therefore did not lock my bag. When I wanted to report the incident at the airport I was told to report it through the web. When I reported the incident via email American Airlines customer relationship person came back to me with two blames: First why did I not report the incident immediately (which I tried to do it), and second that I was responsible for my items even when I was asked to hand over my carry on bag. Now American Airlines thinks it is not their responsibility at all. I already felt bad that I had to report this incident but now it feels worst after experiencing American Airlines standard response - not to take any responsibility and blame on their customer. Best regards,

Mehmet
