Monitronics will not release my alarm system

October 10, 2006

Monitronics, International, Inc. 12801 N. Stemmons Freeway, Suite 821 Dallas TX 75234-5879

I have been a Monitronics customer for 7+ years. I am not under contract with them or obligated to them in any way. They state that my alarm system is mine - I 'own' it. I would like to change monitoring companies but Monitronics will not set my alarm codes to default and will not give me the programming codes, therefore making my system useless with anyone but them. I guess I only own the system if I am doing business with Monitronics. Isn't this theft? Or vandalism of some kind? How is it legal for them to render my equipment that they state that I own useless?
