When I signed up with Packet 8 Voip (telephone service) in August 2005, I was told they were in the process of getting faxing capability. I would call them every month and they would tell me it could take effect any day now. As of today, March 2006, I've spent $178 sending faxes from Kinkos when I own my very own $200 fax machine at home. I cancelled my account in writing and switched to Packet 8's competitor (Vonage) who are fax capable in February 2006. Today March 6, 2006 I'm still being billed by Packet 8 for monthly service and when I call for a refund they're unprofessional and rude towards me. The claimed I never cancelled my account. I had to call back 3 times to get it cancelled, but was told I'll have to wait 6-8 weeks to be refunded the money they should've never billed me for in the first place. I recieved an email that it was cancelled, but I'll be charged $59.99 for cancelling within a year. I don't feel it's fair to be charged a cancellation fee when I'm only cancelling because they still aren't fax capable like they've been promising their customers since 2004. I have printed documentation within their very own CEO blog that states by a Packet 8 Technician that customers can indeed fax with Packet 8 when it's NOT true - you can't fax with Packet 8 at all and never have been. It stated on their very own website that faxing should be available November 2005 and it's still not. I have to fax from home quite often and I'm cancelling my service with them due to misleading information I was given the day I placed an order for service as well as misleading info on the internet, on their website, and their CEO's Packet 8 blog. I expressed my decision to go through their corporate office to file a complaint. The customer service rep claimed there was no way for either her or myself to contact corporate office.

I have had many similar problems. I was promised fax service and they still can't provide it (after I signed a contract) I had to complain to the general manager to get my refund, and they were supposed to port my 2 main business lines over, and it has been almost 2 months and they still can't get it done! I have had to spend over $1200 extra to keep 2 services running and now, I have had to cancel and start all over again, and it looks like I am going to have to file claim against them in court to get my money back as they will no longer answer my emails or calls. DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY!!!
