Hopkins Automotive Seaford DE Hopkins Automotive Seaford DE March 6, 2006 I recently tried to purchase a vehicle here and was asked to leave a $100.00 deposit on the car I wanted to hold the car until they could try to have it financed for me(which I was told they would not know anything until Monday around 12:00pm) At 1:30pm after not hearing anything I decided to give them a call I was very excited about the car and couldn't wait anylonger to see if the financing had gone through. After reaching the sales rep I had been dealing with he starts out by saying I have some good news we have preapproved you for a loan however the car you looked at has been sold, which by my understanding wouldn't happen beings I placed a deposit on it. He the went to procede by saying we have another car just like it and would try to get if financed for me, I said ok I'll be right over to see it. When I get there the salemen comes to me and says the car HE NOW wants me to get isn't there but would still like for me to procede with getting the loan. I told him I wasn't buying anything I couldn't see nor test drive first. Then after talking to several other assicoates there and waiting almost an hour the I tell the salesman that I want my deposit back and I'll go somewhere else he says ok I'll get your $50.00 for you I then said no it was $100.00 he then goes to check his paperwork and then turns to me and says do you have your reciept. I said yes and got my money back. I just wanted to let people know that HOPKINS AUTOMOTIVE OF SEAFORD DE is a crudey car dealership and would not suggest anyone buy a car from them. They make false promises and lye badly

As far as any service problems, I pulled your service history and besides being repossessed, your van was only in for service one time and there wasn't any mechanical problem; the battery was down and we replaced it at no cost to you. We do not lie, cheat or steal from anyone or we could not have had a successful business for over 20 years if we did, plus I have morals. I know when you're not told what you want to hear; you believe you're not being treated well. The salesperson that you believe misrepresented himself wasn't doing anything wrong or to fraud you or the dealership. He was trying to help you because you told him that you were working with limited funds and he thought that an inexpensive vehicle that you could purchase outright could meet your needs and keep you from having a car payment, which would be more practical for you. In the future it would be better to speak to management to resolve any problem you may have rather than posting a complaint online, which resolves nothing. We take every customer complaint very seriously and I strive for complete customer satisfaction, but without knowing about a customer's dissatisfaction, I cannot do anything to resolve it. I am not sure why if you felt it was defective in any way or unsure about its previous history you didn't bring it to anyone's attention at the dealership, or why it took you four years to complain about it. I find it very offensive that you can make such unfounded statements about the vehicle you purchased, especially after selling thousands of vehicles in the over twenty successful years we have been in business. We have no higher goal than customer satisfaction because we rely on customer referral. I can assure you if it had any accident history we would have disclaimed it prior to the sale for three main reasons: 1. we have moral standards I run my company with, 2. by law we have to disclaim any major accident damages and 3. because we carfax every vehicle whether we purchase it or we take it in on trade. If it was a vehicle we traded in and it was cosmetically challenged, it would be obvious to the buyer and seller and we would have shown the defects and compensated for it by the price, especially a trade-in. When someone trades in a vehicle for a newer car, we send that vehicle through our service department and repair any safety issues or mechanical defects found and then have it state inspected. If the vehicle had issues that we would not put our name behind, we would send the vehicle to the auction. As far as the warranty you mention, you're right, it does not cover car washes, but the warranty plan you purchased does cover the "power train" which is the engine, trans, differential and all internally lubricated parts. All vehicles, regardless where they are purchased, are prone to eventually having a mechanical problem and if you had an oil leak, it would have been a covered repair. I'm glad to hear the vehicle has not broken down on you in four years of driving it. A deposit on a vehicle is to hold the vehicle so that it won't be sold. The problem was the vehicle you left a deposit on had already been sold earlier that day and your salesperson was not aware of the prior sale because it wasn't posted "sold" on the windshield yet. Due to the confusion the manager was transferring a similar model vehicle from our other store to correct the situation. Understandably, we would not want you to purchase a vehicle that you had not inspected and found to your liking. As a company we would never mislead, take advantage or cheat any customer; and no one had any intention of lying to or cheating you. Our goal was to satisfy you by any means possible. Again, we're sorry if you felt misled. They lie, steal and CHEAT people out of there money and heaven forbid your payment is late they take your car and add $300 more to it in order for you to pick it up. They added more then $500 to the van the day I picked it up and have refused to service it at all, it has something wrong with the transmission and no rear heat and has been towed 4 times. Everyone at this dealership has treated me in the worse way. This is a moob type dealership and good hard working people like myself should be very careful. This heartless dealership should not be in business. The day I went to pick the van up on of there salesmen call me and told me his girlfriend had a van that if I wasn't set on this one take a look at her's it was cheaper and I didn't have to have a car payment. Well I went to his house and looked at but it was not in the best shape and had 70M more miles on it then he told me, so I guess that should have been my cue to not deal here, there own sales people deal underhanded from them. They need to be stopped before they cost someone there life.
