Best Buy, Ames, IA - X-Box 360

Event: X-Box 360

I'd have to say that I am a pretty loyal customer to Best Buy and have shopped there for the last four or five years of my life but this one experience changed my perception of the customer service department.

It all happened during December, December 13 if i can recall, and my brother and i are big X-Box fans so we decided to be one of the first to get the next 360. So we did our research and found a leak in the Best Buy employment which was very helpful. Best Buy wasn't supposed to let customers know how many X-Box's were goin to be sold that day but we had called and gotten a rookie employee who didn't know the ropes and she leaked all the information to us. We looked at all the ads and looked at the ads in the papers and they only restriction was "One per customer."

To make a long story short we stayed out in the seven degree Iowa winter, with a thirteen mile an hour wind, for thirteen hours to get our X-Box's in a tent and lawn chairs. We got up at 8:00 and stand in line to get our X-Box's. The Manager stands in front and tells everyone to get in line. We do we are like twelth or thriteenth so we know that we have an X-Box for sure. The "manager" says "Ok remember all, there is only one per family" my mouth drops and heart sinks. We approach the "manager" when he is not busy and have a "chat" with him. He does the usual, "it's not our fault the ads were wrong" and so i didn't get an X-Box or anything for my thirteen hours of hell and we weren't the only family mad about this situation. There were two other families that were very upset about the whole situation. I still respect X-Box but Best Buy is just a bunch of BS. I still call them from time to time just to bug them so that maybe some day they will get tired and give me something free. This is just another example of the big companies taking advantage of the little guy.

So why the hell did you tell them you were brothers?? You could have just said you didn't know him or at least were cousins or something and there ya go, you both have 360's.
