The Kenmore side-by-side refrigerator I have purchased in 2001 has had 4 problems. First the trim was cracked. Then the louver assembly for cold air inside stopped working. Then the ice maker quit. And now, finally, a relay or other control device under the refrigerator burned up leaving pungent chemical odor all over the downstairs of the house. I miss my Frigidaire! Over 20 years with no repair! Can you imagine that in today’s world? How much more decline in quality are we going to take in this country? Perhaps there is a lemon law that applies to this case – still have to investigate. However, Sears has definitely lost not one but multiple customer base in terms of appliances. My friend who lives near by traded her Kenmore for a different model for the same reason: poor quality, frequent breakdowns. The repair of the refrigerator yesterday cost me $500.00! That is almost a half of the price of a new one! It’s like a buying a $20,000 car and 5 years later pay $10,000 for repair! J. D
