Long Fence / Windows

March 29, 2006

March 29, 2006 Long Fence/Windows, Capital Heights, MD On March 9th, we contacted Long Windows (div. of Long Fence) to give us an estimate on replacing some windows. After some thought, we decided that the price was too high so we canceled within the three day window. We had to meet with a customer service manager for an "exit" interview so that he could essentially try and save the sale. After I told him the problems with the rep and how unhappy we were, he proceeded to then talk mainly to my husband and completely forgot I was there. That was, until I told him that we still weren't interested. The refund check was due to us as per the contract within 10 days of the date of cancellation which meant March 23rd. I called on the 22nd just to confirm that our deposit was coming and was told the check would be cut on the 23rd and mailed to us on the 24th. With a 2 day delivery time, we'd get it on Monday. WRONG! When we called Monday to say it wasn't there, we were told that the check was cut and mailed on Friday (a little different of a story) and it should be on it's way, so we gave it another day just in case. Needless to say, it never arrived. What a surprise. Given what we had gone through with the sales rep and the various calls from them, we were concerned that we weren't going to see our nearly $6,000 deposit so we called AGAIN. We even called the customer service manager that we talked to and he said that if we didn't get it on Tuesday, to call him and he'd hand deliver a check to us on Wednesday. Imagine our surprise when we couldn't reach him. It wasn't until the end of the day that I reached him after calling again and he simply stated that we needed to call the office and there wasn't anything that he could do. Finally on Wednesday (today), we called and told them to cut another check and we'll come and get it, which they agreed to do after they confirmed with the bank that it hadn't been deposited (sure). What is interesting is that if they had actually voided the other check and did a new one, that the new one would be dated with today's date, March 29th. However, it was dated for Friday, March 24th which tells me that they never even mailed it. This company is very greedy and unethical, and that doesn't seem to bother them one bit.
