TXU Incompetence and Intimidation TXU Incompetence and Intimidation March 22, 2006 01 March 2006 Acct. # 116-59sssss
I have been involved in a year long bill dispute with TXU Energy since March 2005. During this time TXU has made it painfully obvious that they have no intention in rectifying the fraudulent overcharges that have been billed to my account. During this dispute I have sent lower management and upper management, to include John Wilder, the CEO certified letters in hopes that they would be diligent in resolving this matter.
Many of TXU incompetencies, in my opinion, lie with the lackadaisical, apathetic and indifferent work ethic displayed by their employees at all levels. Or is it they are just ignorant of the procedures by lack of training and job knowledge? Last month a TXU employee came out to read the meter. On 2/10/06 the employee was sent to read the meter. He reset the load demand and did not put a new tag on it. I had to leave work, jump in my car and chase him down to get his name, license number before he left the area to have him return and correct his error. It is already obvious in the ongoing dispute TXU cannot be trusted. I do not know if I was being setup or once more having to deal with the incompetence of TXU. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out what TXU would do to me with their track record when the next new man came to read the meter. I am sure tampering charges would have been levied against me. It is ridiculous when it comes down to installing a security camera to guard your meter and stay protected from TXU.
Over the past year I have spent countless hours in telephone conversations and thousands in lost revenue by non productivity dealing with these ridiculous issues. There is no need for TXU to send any more threatening and intimidating disconnect notices for their fraudulent overcharges, because I have had enough. All they need to do is come out and pull the meter and power lines, and I will use a generator before being intimidated into paying their fraudulent charges. I personally will not be intimidated anymore by these threatening notices. The service that is provided is poor at times anyway. In fact, between 1/14/06 and 2/25/06 I have experienced six power outages. Had I been recording the outages prior to this the numbers would be significantly higher.
In addition to filing my complaints with TXU, a letter was sent to the Texas Utilities Commission on 12/12/05 to inform them of my problems with TXU. It is apparent by their non response they have no concerns for the people or with TXUs unethical business practices.
To the people on the complaint websites who have been fraudulently overcharged since TXU has brought us all here together, it is time for a Class Action Lawsuit. We, The People, are the Superpower Not the big corporations who think they can continue to push us around at will. It is time for us to unite and exercise our rights. I am sure Counsel will show more interest than TXU or the Texas Utilities Commission in resolving our disputes with information and tapes regarding these fraudulent charges by TXU Energy.
IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT TXU AND TEXAS UTILITIES COMMISSION UNDERSTANDS THAT WE THE PEOPLE SHOULD NOT, WILL NOT BE INTIMIDATED OR SUBJECTED TO INCOMPETENCE AND/OR THREATS!

I have never in my life dealt with a more fraudulent company. I was ignorant and I guess spoiled coming from the North East where utility companies are regulated and kept in check with the government to make sure they aren't over charging and lying on bills about usage. Here's what I just submitted to the BBB, I doubt it will get me anywhere. But basically my bill went from being $60 to $430 the next month and this was with no one living there half the time!!! We have tried and tried and tried to get TXU to admit they are either lying or made a mistake and they won't budge. Dealing with them for the year and a half I was in Texas was a nightmare, our electricity was going out all the time, they turned it off without warning and would turn it off even when we paid our bills and try and charge us a fee to get it turned back on, not to mention that they wouldn't send someone out for another day after they turned it off. And we were being overcharged the whole time we were there. We had bills up to $600 for one month in a one room studio apartment. Oh and we almost never received our bill in the mail. I would have to call them several times before I could get a bill actually sent to me, including my last bill for the apartment I moved out of, I still have not received it even though I've asked them to send it multiple times. I also have never been able to actually view it online because their website conveniently enough doesn't load the current or past bills: I believe that TXU Energy has provided false meter readings and estimates for account number {woops editing out my account number and former address}. I initially contacted the company in the beginning of January 2010 regarding a $430.27 charge for the month of December, because the charges had almost doubled from the previous month and had gone up more than 5 times from the month prior to that. Considering that I was not living in the state and there was only one person living in the apartment part time the reported usage was obviously false. I was told that the meter reading was estimated based on the usage from one year prior. When I mentioned that the previous year we had had an issue with a heating unit which was malfunctioning and over using electricity and that after it had been fixed our electricity bills had been reduced significantly, if they were estimating based on the December of 2008 then the estimation would not be correct because the heating unit not only was now functioning properly but was also not being used the majority of the month because we had already begun moving out of the apartment and were not there for much of the time in the later months of 2009. I was told that the corrections would be made on the next bill when they were able to get a new meter reading. I have since contacted TXU again because my bill is still very high, and believe that they still have the incorrect meter reading. The meter reading for the month of December 2009 which was based on an estiamation on January 3, 2010, not an actual reading had not been adjusted by even a single digit, the bill had not gone up or down at all, TXU claims that they estimated the bill for Decemeber 2009 usage down to the very last penny without looking at the meter. Additionally we were told that there was an estimation because on January 3, 2010 the meter was not accessible. This statement is false. There are no fences on the property, the meters are outside of the building, there are no animals living on the property and there were no weather issues on January 3, 2010 according to weather history data. It was stated by the TXU representative that they are allowed to make estimations 3 times per year. Because there was no reason for there to be an estimation at this date it seems highly likely that the estimation was made to maximize TXU's profit rather than bill me, the customer the actual amount of electricity used for December 2010. Our situation is certainly not unique, upon researching the company there are countless complaints of this very same issue with other customers and former customers. Your representative, Jesse (employee id 85071) agreed to remove the late fee as a "courtesy" to me. My complaint is that I sent the payment to be received by you in ample time to avoid the late fee. I verified with my bank, that the payment was accepted by you on January 16, 2009. It was not posted to my account until January 20. According to the statement the late payment charge of 5% was added because I had not paid the bill by January 19, 2009. I am so discouraged by TXU because of this issue. I have lost trust in your integrity. Please remove any evidence that this payment was received late by you. And send me a confirming email. They switched me from CPL on Nov. 25,2008 without my permission! Just to have me disconnected saying this address had a $725.40 previous bill since 2006. I then talked to Karen she said don't worry about it I will back date your bill so I wouldn't have to pay this bill that was not mine. she told me to call her on 1/5/09 I called her back on 1/6/09 spoke to Chris he said I owe $850.00 (YES, it had gone up from $725.40 to $850.00)remember they had just switched me on 11/25/08. I told him I had spoken to Karen then he said I can't help you with your service till this amount is paid. I told him I was tired of going back in fourth with lies. I was going to have this issue on our local TV station, then he had me speak to his supervisor "Hector" but Hector tells me the same thing, and that their we're no comments that I had spoken to Karen. I told him how can TXU switch my service having a bill of that amount just to have me disconnected all he said I was unfortunate. I then asked for his last name he said he couldn't give me his last name. I CANNOT BELIVE THIS COULD HAPPEN AND WE THE PEOPLE CANNOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT! I FEEL SO HELPLESS! I have found that my "flex rate" energy bill (supposed to save me money) is a rip-off, compared even with higher-cost "green" energy company's comparable plans. I NEVER, repeat NEVER EVER, receive my bill in the mail. ALL I EVER GET are the pnk disconnect notices. When I complain, supervisors treat me like I don't know where my mailbox is... Right. On the phone with a representative, when asking "Which energy plan is best for me? The 2yr. fixed rate? Or the flex? Or maybe the "green" sponsored plan?" The advanced intelligence on the other end of the line told me, "Naw see, joo gotta' choose the more better one that is best for joo." I'm not even exaggerating. My last conversation with a supervisor, when I called to attempt to correct the "NON-bill" I NEVER get, the supervisor told me that he would pass my personal information on to HIS boss, and that I would receive an EMAIL AND PHONECALL to resolve the issue. Neither of those things have happened yet (2 months later). My professional conclusion - they are complete retards. I have never dealt with such ineptitude and sheer idiocy, and I deal with a lot of stupidity at my place of business. I am switching my energy provider as soon as I research a suitable alternative (I just might go with solar power! I encourage you all to look into FreeSolarPower.com!) Stop paying TXU to be idiots. I haven't had anything as serious as what you have encountered, but the endless list of charges and fees to transfer an account to your name, ad. infinitum. I'm just glad I'm not the only one who feels dissatisfied with their service. I have caught employees lying to me at least twice, and will very soon be canceling my service.
