AOL

June 29, 2006

AOL is crooked. I contacted AOL in January of 2006 prior to my deployment and asked them to cancel may account due to my not being able to use it. Customer service (I use that term loosely) stated that the account was terminated and there would NOT be any further charges taken from my account. I return in June to find that my bank account had been charge for AOL service the entire time I was gone. I call "Customer Service" on June 8, 2006 and spoke with Keith who was nice enough, He looked up my account and confirmed that is was still open and he saw where I had made contact in January. He also verified that the account had not been used in 6 months. He then cancelled my account. When I asked about getting my money refunded he stated "I will see what I can do". No other funds will be taken from my account. Then on June 17, 2006 my account was hit by AOL again for $30.90, I closed the account that day. I contacted "Live Help" for the billing department and after having a lengthy conversation with Harris I was told I would have to call 888-265-8003 and they could help me. Right you have to have someone there to answer the Darn phone. For a 24/7 operation I was on hold for 25 minutes and finally gave up. At this time I have added it up and AOL owes me $185. This is a nice way to treat our military men and women, rip them off while they are away fighting a war. With as many people as there are having problems with AOL maybe we should get a class action going against them. We may not get much but at least they will know they can't treat people this way and get away with it.
