Buyer’s Choice in Bainbridge, Georgia

September 7, 2005

On February 21, 2005, I brought a 2000 Jeep Cherokee from a dealership called Buyer’s Choice in Bainbridge, Georgia. Joyce Day was the sales rep. who sold me my Jeep. The paperwork says February 18, 2005, but I did not sign the paperwork or that I drive the truck off the lot until the 21st of the month. I had my mechanic check the truck out which is Stephan’s Motorcars on the 22nd of that month. They found that the serpentine belts need tension and the valve cover gasket was leaking oil. I took it back to Bainbridge on the 24th of that month and they fixed the valve cover gasket, but not the ser serpentine belt in which I showed the mechanic there what my mechanic found. They fixed the valve cover gasket, but said nothing was wrong with the belt. Okay my brakes were making squeaking noise, I took it to my mechanic and they said it looks like the rotors need to be either clean or change. I took it back on the March 3, 2005 back to Bainbridge; they clean the rotors or replace them. After that, I still was having problems. Okay sometime in the end of March I called because my brakes were still squeaking and I could not run my AC because the belt was making a long squeaking noise, I talk to Ms. Joyce Day and she said to bring it in. On April 2005 on a Sunday the car was leaking brown fluids, so I called Bainbridge and I left a noise message on the answer machine, okay the next day I called to apologize I talk to the Manger Craig. Okay he said you do not leave a message like that and I said I am sorry, but how would you feel if you just got a car or truck and the vehicle started running hot. Therefore, he said since I cannot talk and hung up in my face. I called the head office and left a message with the President and Vice-President. Okay the came, pick up my truck, and give me something to drive. I ask Joyce Day could I get the tension done to my belt and get my brakes fixed while they had my truck okay. When I went to pick up the car to use she said I would have to pay for those repairs and I said those where some of the problems I had during my 30days and she said that is not their problem because it is after the 30days. I said okay then I would be bringing my truck back over here after repairs because I could afford the gas to go back and forward. They found out that I need 2-freeze plugs repair in which my warranty does not cover and I had to pay out of pocket. After I got my truck back on April 15, 2005, the truck was still running hot, come to find out they did not flush the radiator and left the rust color liquid still in the radiator and radiator jug. I had to get that fixed in April 27, 2005 and go to Super lube which cost my money out of my pocket. In May and June, the truck seemed like trying to run hot. On July 2005, the car started back running hot and liquid fluids so I took it to my mechanic Stephens Motorcar and they found out that the freeze plugs had pop out, so they change the freeze plugs and the coolant, which I had to come out of pocket again. In August the radiator fan break in half and I do not know how so in August I had to get the radiator fan assemble, put the serpentine belt tensioner finally fixed which I had to pay a deductible, my warranty cover the rest. Okay in August a couple of days after that the truck said running hot and liquid fluids so I took it back and they fixed the thermostat and overflow bottle to see would that help and I had to come out of pocket for that. A couple days after that it were still running hot. This time my mechanic said, he did not want to try to fix it and he thought it was an internal engine problem and I need to take it back to the dealership. On August 12th or 13th, I called and talk to Joyce Day and I told her want the problems was and I need something to drive because that was my only way to work. She said that after 30days, they do not do that, but I could talk to the manager. On August 16th or 17th I called the manager who is Craig and I told him what the problem was and he said what am I suppose to do and I said while I need something to drive until this get fix because I don’t’ have anything and he said he didn’t have anything available. Okay I called on August 18, 2005 and I talk to mechanic and they said we will be their to pick it up and I said okay put my back to Craig’s office. I said Mr. Craig this is Tarkessa and I am not trying to be disrespectfully, but I will no longer be making payments on something I cannot drive. He said that will mess your credit out and you cannot get your truck back until your payments are caught up and I said okay because I need transportation from work and school. He said while we have something you can drive and I said Mr. Craig you just told me Monday or Tuesday you did not have nothing for me to drive and he said yes we do we had five vehicle come in last week and I said will okay, I’ll see if I can find away there. When I got home from work that night the truck was still there, okay I called back that Thursday morning and the guy said while someone will call you. Nobody ever called me, so I called about and the guy said someone would be his or her today if not today Friday. While Friday morning they pick up my jeep. I went over there Friday to get the car for me to drive. While I was there, I asked Mr. Craig is there anyway I could trade or exchange my truck because I got a bad deal. He said why do you say that and I said because since I had this truck it has been in and out of the shop for repairs and he said while that is sometimes what happens when you buy a used car and I said okay. Is it fair that because you buy a used car and make payments that you have to go through this? This is causing my stress and I have had to find runs to work and school. Please help me because I do not know what to do. In August, I tried to get the entire repairs I had done in the 30-day period and Joyce Day said that because you did not pay for those repairs it does not concern you. This is everything I remember since I have been going through this. Plus, I have complain to the Better Business Bureau twice.
