AT&T CALLVANTAGE AND 911 ISSUES AT&T CALLVANTAGE AND 911 ISSUES September 7, 2005 We signed up for AT&T CALLNASTY after speaking with several representatives, We specifically asked each one about the 911 emergency, We were told that we would have E-911 or Enhanced 911 that would show our name and address, when we receive our adapter we wait 5 days for the 911 to activate, This is what happened when we test Called, we dialed 911 and it rang about 5 times, then a recording come on, Thank You for calling the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, we are sorry but we are closed, if this is an emergency please hang up and dial 911. Well it was closed and it wasn't even going to the right 911 call center. The people at AT&T were not very helpful and it took the 4 1/2 weeks to actually figure out what city it goes to, after they fixed it we tested it again and still not working, " Hoover Police And Fire, what is the location of the emergency you are reporting" ? We asked the dispatcher about our address and she said our call was coming in on the NON-EMERGENCY Line. We call back again and then they say, OOPS!! we forgot that we don't even offer E-911 yet, we canceled on the spot and wouldn't refund our activation fee or anything so we went to VIATALK who actually has E-911 that works, I just hope that this New FCC E-911 MANDATE closes them down for good.
