GENERAL ELECTRIC (HOTPOINT) DISHWASHER:
In March 2004 I bought a new Hotpoint (a G.E. brand) dishwasher. Since it was first installed, it failed to complete the cycle in the prescribed time. It was supposed to complete in one hour, and although it occasionally did, most times I had to manually advance the timer, as it would run for hours if I let it. Three service visits later (the fourth guy never showed up), the dishwasher still didn't work, and I was out four vacation days. G.E.'s customer service (an oxymoron) told me that they would not replace the dishwasher until a service tech declared it not repairable, which was very unlikely. I asked how many service visits I would have to schedule before the dishwasher was deemed not repairable, and a supervisor told me there is "no limit" to the number of service visits. I could not take any more vacation time, and now, six months later, the dishwasher still doesn't work. I will NEVER buy a General Electric product again. I understand that sometimes products can arrive in imperfect condition, but the absolute disdain for customer satisfaction on the part of the customer service department was appalling.
