credit card

First Financial Bank USA issued a credit card to my unemployed 18-year-old grandson while he was still in high school. He applied for, and was granted, a $250 limit. It is my opinion this institution is aware that 18-year-olds can easily have trouble with credit, and it is also my opinion that they prey on this age group and take advantage of them. It seems they charge a high "late fee" even if the payment is two or three days late. This high fee will send the balance over the limit and then the company can charge yet another high fee. I think it is sad when a bank takes advanage of young people this way.

I write the checks for his payments and in the three months since June 20, 2005 I have written checks for $280.00 and his balance is still nearly $300.00 on a $250.00 limit.

He has not used his card for the past several months (he lost his wallet during a soccer game and does not have the card. The wallet and card was turned into the police department 100 miles away and we have not gone to pick it up. There is no evidence that it has been used).

First Financial calls by recording (they don't respect the customer enough to talk person-to-person) and if my grandson is not available the recording says they will call again in an hour. And one hour later the phone rings.

This is repeated until there is no answer, then the recording leaves a message. Three calls a day for a week is a bit much.

If there are others who are having similar problems with this bank please E-mail me and if we can join together maybe we can do something.

I have used 1st FBUSA for the past 4 yrs. I got a $250 credit limit when I was in college and i've used it and paid it off on time ever since. Now my limit is at $10,800.00 I recently used the credit to make purchases to renovate and flip a house and everything worked out wonderful. I am extremely pleased with 1fbusa.

I agree. In my first year of college (granted this is about a year ago) FBAUSA issued me a credit card with a $150 limit. I was late on the payment and even today I am still paying off the card even though I don't even use it anymore. I had it down to $99 last month, however they decided to add interest and since they apparently lowered my limit I went over and unfortunately the amount is over $200 again. Now it is my second year of college and since I am on my own I am forced to go to college part-time so I can work enough hours to pay off this credit card.
