I added compuserve to a old computer we had for our kids. I was put on a 500 hours for 9.95 amonth and 2.95 an hour after the first 500. The computer was for my kids so I knew they would never use 500 hours a month.

At the end of the next month I they took 315.85 out of my account. I called customer service to complain. I was told the service they had me signed up for was for 5 free hours and 2.95 a hours after that. when I stated that I would have never been so stupid as to sign up for that that I could get cheaper service from many other companies, The customer service person said he would change the plan to a 9.95 a month unlimited useage and that they money would be put back in my account.

After about 2 week I recieved a letter stating I had a 305.85 credit on my account with compuserve. I called the billing department and said I did not want a credit I wanted my money back. The person stated even the letter was incorrect that I had no credit and that another part of the billing department found that charged valid. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was given the run around. They finally agreed to get me my money back. On Friday they did in fact deposit the 305.85 into my account. But on Saturday they turned around and took out 389.00. I was really upset. I called the billing department and they gave me the run around again. Finally he stated he would put it back in the system to be reviewed and I would be contacted with 10 business days.

I wrote a letter that same day to cancel my service and site my complaints.I also contacted my bank and put a block on my account so they could not take anymore money out of my account.

I have recently recieved a letter from Compuserve stating I owe then money after I have cancelled my service with then. Of course I wrote them a letter stating that I had written a letter and cancelled my service and that I owed them nothing that if anything they owe me money.
