Chase Manhattan Credit Cards I recently did a balance transfer from Chase Manhattan to another one of my credit cards. Since they offered a promotional rate, I took the full balance. I immediately paid the balance transfer fee in order to stay under the credit limit. However, I didn’t realize that they assessed finance charges from day 1. Before I received a statement from them they issued an over credit limit charge to my credit bureau and blemished a perfect credit score. Their reps are MORE than happy to offer you your entire balance as a transfer and then (read the fine print) nail you for being over the limit.
