Direct TV - Service Interruptions - Poor Customer Service

September 25, 2005

I have had problems with service interruptions ever since installation. Every time it rains within 100 miles, all I can watch is "Searching For Signal". I called to complain several times.. each time I was told there was no record of a previous call. Finally I was told that I should have the installers move the dish from the pole in the yard to my roof. First the installers wanted to charge me an additional $200, then they offerred $100. It was less than 90 days after my installation! I called Direct TV and they did offer to waive the charge for the installers to move the dish - if I agreed to pay an additional charge every month for service protection. The installers didn't arrive when promised, then refused to move the dish when they got there saying that they couldn't see any trees in the way so they were not allowed to move it. They changed a piece on the dish, telling me that the one that was installed was the cheapest thing available. I have had only slight - if any improvement in service. I get no reception when it rains, when it's cloudy, and when it's raining anywhere south of Indiana. I have sent 2 e-mails requesting credits for times when I had no service and for information about when my contract is up. Apparently I am obligated to pay my bill for the length of my contract but they have no obligation to provide the service I am paying for. They shouldn't be able to market their service in areas where it rains or snows or gets cloudy. I can't wait to get back to my cable. I had fewer service interruptions in 14 years with my cable company than I have had in 6 months with Direct TV.
