Breach of Contract Technical School Breaching Contract September 20, 2005 Techskills Technical School Nashville, Tennessee 37217
RE: Breach of Contract
I enrolled into Techskills January of 2005 to take a medical billing and coding course, I withdrew seventeen days later in deciding that I did not care in the way the school operated in teaching students. In their contract, a student that withdraws owes the school a certain percentage of the tuition depending on the time frame spent at the school. In my case, they owe a refund of 75% of the tuition. That refund amount comes to $1,042.50, to be sent directly to SallieMae. Five months later in May, they sent a refund amount of 605.08. This leaves a remainder amount of $437.42.
Techskills has tried their best to try avoiding paying this amount. They have stated to the BBB that they have sent a refund of $2,937.50 to SallieMae, but yet SallieMae shows no record of payment of that amount. Of course they would not send that amount since they owe me only $437.42. Now it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what Techskills is trying to do, does it?
I did try to call them one time only a few months ago to see when I could expect payment of $437.42, and they would not give me an answer. I asked to speak to the person who takes care of these matters, and they would not give me a name. They have been very, very evasive. I am sick and tired of their attitude and trying to brush off responsibility of what they owe, so I've decided to tell the world about what Techskills is all about. These people are not on the up and up, and will not pay you if you decide to withdraw from their facility. I have been advised by an attorney that I will have to take them to small claims court, and am getting ready to do that today. But.....I first wanted to let students looking to enroll in a technical school to read my story first and then decide. Do you really want mentors (as they call themselves), to be teaching you that are non-responsible people, and that as soon as things do not go their way, will treat you like you are a "nobody?"
