I had quite an eye opening experience with E-Bay, Square Trade, and Paypal. I had purchased a powerpack and received the item in a timely manner. When I received it, it was missing the power cord (making the powerpack absolutely useless). I thought maybe the seller made a mistake. I received a prompt reply from the seller ranger_2 that it was not listed in the item description (but shown in the picture of the item) and was not included in the auction. She would however sell me the cord for an additional sum of money. First I contacted e-bay since this is outside of e-bays policy for a member to sell outside of the auction format. I never received a response. I then contacted Square Trade since the seller was a “verified” seller and lead to be “trustworthy”. They opened a mediation case but could not help me receive the item that was missing. I then complained to Paypal since they offer buyers protection when using their service. I never heard back from them for 4 weeks. In the interim I purchased the power cord through a dealer for more than the powerpack that I had purchased on e-bay. After I was contacted by Paypal, they agreed the item was misrepresented and told me to send the item back to the seller for a full refund and all shipping charges. The resolution went on to say that they are not responsible if the seller does not refund the money when the item is sent back. Who in their right mind would accept this “resolution”. I later contacted Square Trade since they had agreed the item was misrepresented (even though they could do nothing) to have ranger_2’s Square Trade Logo removed……to no surprise they never responded. Ever try to contact any one of these companies by phone??.....they don’t list it. It is hard enough to find e-mail addresses on where to “complain”. If you note….e-bay….square trade….and paypal are all related. One big money making operation. Let the BUYER beware….e-bay is a money making operation and does not care about anything other than making money. There is NO protection.
