Motel 6 3030 Richmond Rd Williamsburg, VA 23185
My husband and I booked a non-smoking room here for 3 nights from August 19, through August 22, 2005. What we got instead could by no stretch of one's imagination be mistaken for a non-smoking room. The whole place simply stank of tobacco. My husband always has an adverse reaction to a smoke filled environment, and had to endure 3 nights of constant headaches.
We complained about it but were told,"Well, we have no control over people who stay in the rooms. Some of them smoke sometimes." This was more than the residual odor from somebody having a smoke, after which one would reasonably expect the scent to linger even after the room was freshened up. Our room was a regular smoke shop.
After we left, I wrote a letter to Motel 6 headquarters in Greenville TX and copied it to the manager of the Williamsburg, VA location where we stayed. To date, neither party has even had the common courtesy of acknowledging receipt of my letter. Somehow I am not terribly surprised by that. If an organization has the nerve to knowingly (and obviously deceptively) advertise, and let a room such as the one we got, as a non-smoking room, then integrity will certainly not be very high on their list of values.
Sincerely,
