Washington Electronics – 2932 Patrick Henry Drive Falls Church VA - 703-533-9595 October 7, 2005 Dear Complaint Center: Early in 2005 I called Washington Electronics to fix my 55 “ Hitachi television set. I was told by Circuit City, (where I purchased the set), that Washington Electronics was the service contractor for my zip code. I paid $65.00 for an initial service call from them to come out to my home and assess the problem. The television would not turn on and there was a clicking noise. On July 11th I believed the repair was made since I had a picture again. I charged $596.81 to my Wachovia MasterCard. Less than 24 hours later the television lost its picture and volume. I performed some light trouble shooting by switching the power strip and trying a new outlet; none of this worked. I called Washington Electronics and spoke with Jerry on July 12 and I was told a service man will come back out. I never received a call back to confirm a date for service. Several calls were made from me to try to get the television fixed. Washington Electronics did not return ANY of the phone calls made. I left several messages with Jerry. I called approximately every 10 days, I know more than 8 calls were made, but I noted my Outlook Calendar on the following dates: 8-1 , 8-15, and 8-25 and was told everything from “the service man is out of town” , “let me get your name and number and he will call you right back”, to “the part is on back order”. I stated I wanted a “temporary credit when I called in late August, but was assured that the service man was coming in 2 or 3 days and the television would be fixed. I also called Wachovia, (my credit card company), again several times and had them note my account of the continuing problem with Washington Electronics My credit card account had notations of calls made from me for 8-2 and 9-13. I was assured that since this was an ongoing problem that I would not be held to the 60 day time frame to file disputes. On September 13th I had enough. I spoke with Miguel who forwarded me to billing disputes. He said I can file a dispute @ anytime and rescind it if Washington Electronics came through and fixed the set. Another call was made to Washington Electronics on that day, (9-13), and I asked again to “receive a temporary credit on my MasterCard”. On September 19th I filed a billing dispute on the internet with Wachovia after checking to see that the credit was not done. Washington Electronics is more than welcome to pick up the set and use it for parts for future customers. The set does not work and I will call Bulk Trash very soon to have them haul the television away if Washington Electronics does not wish to take the Hitachi television set. I called Washington Electronics on 9-19 and told them that they are free to take “any and all parts” of the set. Wachovia Credit card will not credit my account and a final call was made to Washington Electronics on 10-5 . I asked for a compromise of
