We kept getting advertisements in the mail by Reliant Energy Co about how much money we would save through them if we were to switch.

Well, we finally decided to go with them.

We sent off our $200.00 deposit. It cleared the bank on 8-15-05.

We were told that it would go into effect the minute they received the deposit.

The next month we get a bill from our original Energy Co stating that they read the meters on 8-24-05 and that the final shutoff was 9-26-05.

I called Reliant and the operator told me "No, that it would take 4-6 weeks for a "switch". We weren't new customers. Only new customers would be immediately.

I want to know why it seems that all businesses do this?

What the heck is going on in America today?
