Chase Manhattan Credit Cards Chase Manhattan Credit Cards October 5, 2005 Hello Complaints.com, I feel so good getting this off my outraged chest. In November of 2004 My Chase Manhattan Credit Card Account magically changed from 9.99% to 29.99% overnight. Obviously a bit taken aback I elected to give good old ethical Chase a call. It was then that I was ianformed that in November Chase supposedly mailed out a letter to me giving me the option to close the account and keep the current rate of 9.99%. If I didn't respond however they were going to take the liberty of assuming no response meant that I wanted to keep it open and have the nice new issued rate of 29.99%. The unfortunate part for me is I never recieved that letter and thus it was quite difficult for me to elect the lovely option # 1 over devilish option 2. I inquired as to "why" did my rate magically multiply by three times. I was then informed that with their merger with Bank One they were "cleaning up the books" and re rating accounts they deemed "risky" Mine was deemed "risky" casue I chose to utilize a strong % of the available balance that they CHOOSE to extend me. I have done just about everything short of donating them a million or so dollars to get them to ease up on their tactics to no avail. I have a perfect pay record with Chase dating back to 2000 and pay all my bills on time, have ficos ranging from 650 to 700. I am seeking my orginal rate of 9.99% and restitution for all finance charges I have incurred in excess of a 9.99% interest rate. I have recently filed complaints with the FTC, BBB, and the state of Michigan. I have also placed many calls to Legal experts. I won't stop whining until I get my desired results ross Click this link to e-mail the message author: Email User From: Message Author (click here to email author) Date: Thursday, 06-Oct-05 00:00:00 CDT Business: Reply Online Consumer: Comment On This |
