On 10/19/05 at about 9:00 am, I went inside to purchase an Egg McMuffin meal. I ordered a large Orange Juice with it. As I drank it, the juice got sweeter and sweeter. When I took the lid off to look, there was a three inch by 1/2" in diameter plastic end of a juicing attachment sitting in a lump of orange juice concentrate at the bottom of the cup. I've already contacted an attorney to see what legal avenues can be explored, but I sure hope this doesn't happen to anyone else, never mind that they could actually choke! What if it was an older person that couldn't react so quickly? In any case, I contacted McDonalds corporate through their website who quickly contacted the Piazza family, franchise owners in the area who own several McDonalds restaurants to take some corrective action against that location. Guess what I got in the mail, an apology letter from the franchise owner and two "free extra value cards" Goody, now I can maybe choke on something else. An attorney I spoke with said because I have no injuries, it would hard to prove a case, but there might be a case for this kind of ridiculously stupid negligence. I also filed a complaint with the Los Angeles County Health Department.
