10/8 appointment at 1:00 pm made by website, confirmed by phone to my work phone. 2:00, no show, no call. Called Closet World, said designer wasn't answering her phone, very sorry, reschedule for 10/14, 1:00.
10/14 1:00, designer showed up, very professional, explained designs, did work up, great lady. Contract signed, deposit paid (1/2 of total), installation date set for 10/27 between 11 and 2 pm.
10/27, 10:30, called installation to find out when they were coming. Told "any time now, you're on the schedule for 9 - 11." Called again at 1:50 pm, they were "just about to call me." Installers had difficulty at their first job, would not make it that day. Expressed dismay and disgust, transferred to "supervisor, Andres." Andres apologized, said his first date was 10/29, I'd be the only install, arrive between 9 and 11. Asked about discount for inconvenience, told they couldn't discount a contract, could offer extra accessories. Too livid to discuss properly, declined extras.
10/28, called multiple times to talk to supervisor above Andres. Connected to Gary Cheney voice mail, expressed disgust with missed appointment, lack of accommodation for inconvenience, want to hear from someone. Got a call back from Andres, for Gary Cheney, while I was out to lunch. Called back, 12:45, Andres is out to lunch. Called after 3 pm, Andres has gone out on personal business, am given Gary Cheney's voice mail. Leave message, will be out of cell phone range, want to hear from someone TODAY either on the cell or at home. No call.
10/29, called at 10:30 to find out when to expect installers. Not on install schedule today. Ask for a supervisor or a manager, no one there, said they'd take message for someone to call me on Monday. Hang up. Call back, get put on hold and hung up on multiple times. Call other 800 number, get message to my designer. No calls. Call again 11:30, send message to designer to call. THEY CALLED BACK! Said my designer was at an appointment, would call when done. Designer called 12:30. Indignant that I'd had no installation done. Said she'd call managers, get someone to call me. Designer called back 1:30 to see if anyone had called me. No. Designer calling more managers to raise hell. Suggested she check out www.complaints.com and see what other customers had to say about Closet World. I had no idea the company was this flaky, until I checked Complaints.com, and found this is their standard operating procedure.
I have already contacted KABC, CBS2, KCAL, KNBC about the shoddy customer service they have displayed. I have put into motion the request for a refund of my deposit. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, but considering the number of complaints already filed, I doubt this will carry any weight with them.
