Telephone company woes

Telephone company woes Telephone company woes October 28, 2005 In the month of september, I switched my local and long distance service to Bellsouth. We made two phone international calls due to an emergency situation and got billed $363.00 for these 2 calls. Incidently, we were not part of Bell south international plan and We were billed $4.49/minute for these calls. Bellsouth says that we refused their international plan and that is why we were billed that much. Our plea is that we are ready to pay a fair charge. The amount they are charging us ($4.49) is ridiculous and we did not know at the time we were making the calls that we wil be charged that much. We made repeated requests to discount these calls just as a one time courtesy. The company offers 28 cents/minute plans for these locations. However, we were treated very badly and were made to wait hours on the phone line and were refused any consideration whatsoever. Also, my long distance service was disconnected as a precaution to stop me to make these high dollar calls. I just need your help to understand what options I have as a consumer.
