Tracfone

October 28, 2005

1. I possessed a Nokia Tracfone with a local telephone number. I bought a Motorola Tracfone with 40 minutes air time in response to an email ad. 2. Was told by customer service that I could transfer my 802 minutes from my old Nokia to the new Motorola telephone, but was not told that I could not keep a local telephone number. After the transfer of time was completed, they assigned me a new telephone number and added the 40 minutes to my total airtime. I did not know my new number was long distance until I tried to use it. (See 6 below.) 3. I called back to transfer my airtime back to my Nokia Tracfone which had the local telephone number. Was told by a second representative that I must buy more minutes to transfer my 842 minutes to my Nokia with the local telephone number. 4. The second representative also told me to enter a code into the Motorola. I later discovered that this code had changed the telephone number for the Motorola. He did not advise me of this. I discovered this when I checked the number on the telephone. 5. After I bought a one year service card for the Nokia, ( $ 90 plus tax for 150 minutes of airtime.) I was told by customer service that I could not transfer my 842 (at least $513 worth of air time) minutes to my Nokia. (This contradicts what I was told in 3. above.) 6. I was also informed that the telephone number assigned to the Motorola was not the original number assigned, and was not the number that the second representative had me code into the cell phone. In other words, I had no way of knowing what my Motorola cell telephone number was! 7. The purchase price of the Motorola included 40 minutes of air time. I attempted to use the Motorola two times with no success. These two attempts reduced my total minutes from 842 to 818. Ergo, 24 minutes were subtracted from my total air time for service not received. 8. I went through the web site to activate my new one year 150 minute card. I discovered they had deactivated my telephone (which was effective until November 28 2005) and reassigned me another long distance number. That’s another $90 plus worth of air time that is unusable to me! Total loss = $600 +
