MBNA Credit Protection FRAUD

MBNA Credit Protection FRAUD MBNA Credit Protection FRAUD October 28, 2005 I have a credit card with MBNA. For some background, this was my very first credit card when I turned 18 and started college. The limit itself is fairly low. However, as most college students money was hard to come by and I used my credit card a lot. Eventually the card was at its max and I was unable to use it. With me still being in college and money still being tight I was paying the minimum payment just to get by. I started noticing a charge on my credit card, that I foolishly thought was a charge for me being over the limit due to interest charges. I recently graduated and am trying to recover all of my finances. During the time that money was tight and the credit card was at its max, I did not bother to look at my statements and simply logged online and clicked "pay now". I was not worried about fraud on my account because I knew it was full and I much less anyone else could not charge to it.
However, recently MBNA double withdrew my payment out of my checking account. I had been waiting on the arrival of the refund when my next statement came. I opened it, hoping that it was finally the check. NO, it was my statement. Since I had to call MBNA to question my refund, I decided it was time I question the $44 charge I did not understand. Turns out they have been charging me for a Credit Protection Plan that I did NOT ever give them permission to enroll me into, and has been charging me for over 3 years. I have learned a lesson the hard way. Technically they owe me ~$2000.00. The guy at the credit protection company offered me a generous $100 credit. YEAH RIGHT!! Then because I insisted, he said the only other option was a 20 day investigation into whether or not the claim was valid. He also stated that a customer service agent with MBNA is the one who supposedly got verbal verification to sign me up with this program. I called MBNA back demanding to know what proof they could provide that I had agreed for this service. The Manager that I spoke with stated that they could only go back a year, and that it was just tough luck, and kindly transferred me back to the Credit Protection group. DO NOT EVER AGREE TO DISCUSS THIS PROGRAM WITH ANYONE, THEY AUTOMATICALLY SIGN YOU UP WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION.
