1999 Toyota Camry Charcoal canister

October 23, 2005

I have a 1999 Camry LE (55,000 miles) that has had an on and off problem with engine sensor light. First, it was claimed to have a loose gas cap. Then, the dealer said the sensor itself failed.. and it was changed.. Now… the story is that I might need a charcoal canister. I see that there are multiple similar complaints in the web for Camry or Corolla… I think Toyota needs to do something about this. It seems to be a common problem…Every time the sensor comes on…it costs 59 dollars to check it up.. The alleged sensor failure was 300 some dollars to fix,.and charcoal canister is another 400 dollars.. It is a shame for a car that has the reputation to last a long time without any problems.
