National City / overdraft charges

National City / overdraft charges National City / overdraft charges October 19, 2005 National City bank is sick. Because of reordering of the way debits are handled, last month alone I was charged over $300 in overdraft charges due to the domino effect created when one high debit was accounted for first, and nearly 6 small ones later that day. So instead of one overdraft charge, I now have 7. The first being my mistake, which I readily admit too, but take your one overdraft for that day and leave the rest alone. So basically, I'm eating ramen noodles this month and enjoying late fees on everything else thanks to the jerks at National City. I have been with National City for years now, and this has never happened to me before. Well, not when I had plenty of money in my account that is. But times are tough, things change. I am struggling and to my shock and suprise, NCB seems to be taking advantage of it. I can relate to all who have had juggling of transactions to suit their own needs. I thought I was keeping a close eye on the balance at all times, but they really do wait to post the bigger transactions, and to use the smaller ones for those damn overdraft fees. I was over 10 dollars a few weeks ago, which has resulted in overage fees now of over 120 dollars. That just makes no sense. Well, guess they had to dig their way out of bankruptcy somehow, screwing their customers seems to be their plan. I too shall cancel this account, and never look back. It has happened to me more than once and happening now. When this weeks check comes in, its gone due to overdraft. Worst thing is, is its direct deposit. Im cancelling my acct tomorrow and opening with a bank that wont screw you.
