Verizon Wireless (rebate)

Verizon Wireless (rebate) Verizon Wireless (rebate) November 6, 2005 A few months ago I purchased a new Motorola V710 phone from Verizon Wireless in Rapid City, SD. It was under their "new every two" plan. There was a $50.00 rebate with this phone, that's what made it free. I sent in the rebate form, copy of the receipt (given to my by the Verizon Wireless store) and taped to the back of my receipt was the UPC bar code from the box. After sending all this in (I even double checked that I had included everything necessary to claim the rebate) I threw the box away. You couldn't return the phone if the UPC bar code was removed anyway. A few days ago I received a letter from the Verizon Wireless Rebate Fulfillment center stating that I had not enclosed the UPC from the box. I called the number on the letter and was told that I would need to resubmit the UPC bar code. I explained that I no longer had the box and had included it with the rebate form and receipt. I was told that the representative (Mitch) wasn't able to do any more for me at his level. I then asked to speak to a supervisor. After holding for 5 minutes, Mitch came back on the line and suggested that I call back "tomorrow" since all the supervisors were busy! He told me to just ask to speak to a supervisor. Anyhow, I called back later in the afternoon, once again getting a representative who couldn't help me, and she gave me to "Dolores", supposedly a supervisor. Dolores told me that without the proper UPC bar code, they couldn't even tell if the rebate had been sent to the right fulfillment center. Now, I had filled out the form and sent it to the address on the form...wouldn't that be the correct fulfillment center? She told me to send in the UPC bar code and I again told her that I had included it along with the rebate form, and receipt. She told me I could send a copy (isn't it on all the forms that it MUST be the original bar code anyway...now a copy would work?) I explained to her that I hadn't kept a copy of the bar code (for that reason) and only had the receipt and the date that I had mailed in the rebate form. She kept repeating herself and finally told me, "there is nothing we can do for you" and hung up!
This really irritates me since I had double-checked the rebate to make sure I had included, circled, etc. everything that I needed to! This wasn't just for a few dollars, but for $50.00! The person that opened up my envelope and input the information on the rebate didn't even get my correct e-mail put into the letter! I'm wondering if they even bothered to check the back to see if the UPC bar code was there!
This smacks of fraud to me! If I hadn't agreed to another two years of service with Verizon Wireless, this experience would make me consider changing providers!
Lesson learned...always, always make extra copies of EVERYTHING!

When the young sales rep rapped up his sales gimmick we were ready to buy until he said the rebate would come in the mail. We were ready to get out of there but he reassured us that it was so simple as he prints off the sales receipt and the mile long rebate receipt with all the info on it. I drove around with the netbook box with the UPC labels and receipts that they wanted and thought about doing it everyday but always putting it off. I finally get around to doing it. I stood in line for forty minutes cutting all these things off this box that they needed and filling out these receipts as well as making sure the mail person stamped the package as it had to be dated by this date. I then patiently wait almost two months to get my money. The infamous post card came saying my rebate was denied due to invalid post mark. I spent over an hour on the phone yesterday and got nowhere. Today I called and had to go through all the hoops all over again to get a live person on the phone. After getting really mad and being put on eternal hold, they figured out the problem and said it was an "input error." I asked the fellow if this happened very often and he said that it did not and he apologized. After looking this up online and seeing this has been going on for years with Verizon I've decided to post my experience everywhere that I can. I work for the Verizon Wireless Rebate Center. We process over 400, 000 rebates per week. Sometimes info is typed in wrong and sometimes it's overlooked and sometimes it just does get lost in the mail! If you do not make copies you will not get your rebate. For those smart people who actually read the rebate form it does tell you to make copies...That photocopy could actually be worth $50 or $100 so you know what, I would not throw away money. Lessons learned............Make copies and it guarantees your rebate. Cheers! So, I resubmitted copies and that didn't even work! I am pretty sure it is a SCAM!!!
