I have a complaint against CitiMortgage. They have you send your payments to a lockbox in NJ, yet they have no branch on location to process you payment. Instead they have some other institution process your payment. How convenient for them. The payments aren't picked up on a daily basis allowing them to charge late fees on your mortgage. Plus, they seem to have lost my payment three times over the time frame they had possession of my mortgage. This late fee and drive by inspections (Which I know, never occurred) was just a ploy to be able to charge additional fees to the consumer. I ended up getting the Commonwealth of PA Dept of Banking involved. The woman that handled my case was Ms. Linda Zang. Letters went back and forth and of coarse CitiMortgage was in denial of this ever occurring. At one time they told Ms. Zang that she had no jurisdiction to evan get involved. I find this very interesting. Doesn't the State Dept of Banking have jurisdiction on Mortgage Companies that sell mortgages to consumers in Pennsylvania???? This issue was never resolved and I'm now trying to purchase a new house and I keep running into this barrier. My mortgage was truly late on some occasions because I was going through a divorce, but not 30 x's 30 days as they're reporting. The interesting part of this mess is that the only way you could communicate with CitiMortgage was to contact them in writing. Every time they sent their response back they referred you to their Customer Service Line. You were never allowed to talk to the person writing the letter. I know I'm one isolated case, but because of this, I'm being charged a high interest rate in order to purchase a new home. How fare is that????? It's more annoying to know my state's Dept of Banking doesn't follow things through even when all the proof is there.
