Overstock.com / Camera Set Overstock.com / Camera Set November 3, 2005 Overstock.com (type of business: scam) Utah
On October 3 I stupidly ordered a camera from overstock.com. I paid for the camera and received the email stating that the order had been accepted and that I would receive another message when it ships. That message never came. I went and checked the website under my orders and it always said in process, which it still says to this very day. After about a week I called and was told there was a problem with the system they are updating it and not all of the shipping information shows and that they were sure that the camera was on it's way. But if I did not receive it 15 days from the day it shipped to please call them back, I asked if you don't know when it shipped and I don't know when it shipped when is 15 days up? I received the you will get an email when it ships. Seeing that the conversation was getting me no where I thought I would email the company and ask. No reply ever came back to my email. The next week I called and was told the same oh it shipped routine, I told the girl i had heard that one before and to come up with something more original. She looked into it and told me that they were out of stock and that someone would be emailing me within 48 hours to either issue a refund or to let me know which item will be shipped in place of the original. The email never came. Well 2 emails came to me: One was for a product review of the item I had bought, the other was for feedback as to how my transaction was over all. I received no response back based on the information I provided (such as if you want a camera shop somewhere else) Later that week i called back and was told that it would be sent to a "mentor" to research and that they would email me within 48 hours. No email. This week I called and was told that a refund would be issued and I would have it by the end of the week. This girl was just rude, and I kind of thought that she was just telling me that to get me off of her phone. I then sent a follow up email basically demanding a tracking number and product number or a refund. No response So I called back 48 hours later to check the status of my refund and NOTHING had been done. No trace on the item no nothing. So I ask what is the policy and was told that he would escalate it to a manager and they would (you guessed it) email me within 48 hours. I said would this be easier if I just started a charge-back on my credit card, and he said YES. I then went to the BBB website and filed a complaint against this company. Just because I was in a mood after that i called back and ask to speak to a manager or supervisor, and after the agent filled out a form he transfered me to the managers line where I was on hold for 35 minutes and then disconnected. I then sent another email advising that I had filed a complaint with the BBB and looked forward to a speedy resolution. I did get an acknowledgment that they had received my email and that someone would respond to me in 24 - 48 hours. I think I may call them daily to see what is happening with this
