Mandarin Uniforms & Mattress, now A-1 Direct Mattress

Jacksonville, FL 32257 We put a mattress set on layaway in February at Mandarin Mattress and Uniform. We asked Alvin, who represented himself as the man in charge, how long was the layaway before we ever signed anything or paid anything because my husband had just stopped working due to disability and we were unsure how our finances were going to work out, but were in desperate need of a bed. He said indefinite because he understands how things happen and he would work with us. We put down $200, more than was necessary; then in May, we paid another $100. In November, we went to pay it off. We walked in and noticed the uniforms were gone and so was the "Mandarin" part of their name. All it said on the outside now was "Mattress". An online yellow pages search showed their name is now A-1 Direct Mattress. Alvin was unavailable out of town but the salesman called him. Alvin first threw into our faces how long it took and that layaway there was only 30-90 days. If that's true, then why in May when 90 days was up the day I paid, WHY didn't he say something then? He then said the store changed hands in June and he tried many times to contact us and left messages. HOW CAN HE CLAIM THIS when we've had the same phone number for 3
