pro-form 1280 S INTERACTIVE TRAINER (elliptical machine) pro-form 1280 S INTERACTIVE TRAINER (elliptical machine) November 29, 2005 Pro-Form.com. On 5/21/05 I purchsed an elliptical trainer on-line from Pro-form.com. I specifically asked their "online consultant" about any weight limits the machine might have, he assured me that the 1280 S was rated at 275+ lbs. Since I weigh 260lbs. I purchased it. I admit I should have read the owners' manual fully, because on page three, line 7 it stated that the1280 s should not be used by persons weighing over 250 lbs. o.k. my fault.
I also purchased the extended warranty. Now I did not use the machine religiously so after 4 months it blew a flywheel bearing. After contacting their customer service I was then informed of the weight restriction. Like I said "my fault".
The warranty dept. sent out a new flywheel and informed me a technician would contact me in a couple of days. A couple of weeks went by, no tech. So I called again and was informed that a tech would call in 2 days. Again no tech, no phone call. So I complain online.I get an e-mail from a Margaret Rosales telling me I need to call a UTS number, which turned out to be the number I had previously called twice !!! I have called only once more and spoke to an Elizabeth who assured me that a technician would be in touch with me in (YOU GUESSED IT !!!) 2 DAYS !!! I am now researching my small claims options, I can not believe a corporation of that size would have to resort to such skullduggery to make a profit. Well it takes all kinds doesn't it ?
