Online retailer www.tweeter.com fails to honor completed sale for online LCD TV that was advertised as significant savings.

November 28, 2005

I had a problem with online electronics retailer www.tweeter.com filling an order for a TV they advertised on-sale on their website and in local newspapers in Atlanta, GA. They cancelled my order for a 26" Samsung LCD TV that was $400 off the regular price of $1399 after the sale period ended and

refused to re-instate the order at the sales price. Their reasoning behind

cancelling the order was they couldn't contact me within 72 hours of the order to verify it (they called me once on my cell phone and didn't leave a message and cancelled the order within minutes of the missed call). The customer service representatives on the phone were trying to be helpful

- but their management wouldn't allow them to reinstate the order and their hands were tied. I was on the phone for 75 minutes trying to get the matter cleared up. The good news is the brick and mortar version of this store called HiFi Buys here in Fayetteville, GA listened to my story and honored the sales price and completed the transaction within 30 minutes of the initial call. My recommendation.... take off your bunny slippers and drive into the HiFi Buys REAL stores and deal with people and not a call center.
