WalMart return policy

WalMart return policy WalMart return policy November 28, 2005 I was shocked to learn that WalMart would only allow you to return 3 items in 6 months time. I do a lot of shopping at the store for my children and grandchildren and there are times I need to return an item. I never ask for my money back, just a gift card since I do plan to spend it in the store. I do plan to be more careful about shopping at WalMart as much as I have done in the past. This is really a shame because they will lose a lot of my business. I sincerely hope they change this policy soon so I can resume by shopping there.
Sincerely, Marcia Houston, Texas

You can only returned items on three different occassions without a receipt. It takes 6 months for each of those items to fall off. If you have your receipt you can return something every hour of every day if you wish. The policy is in place because of shoplifters returning stolen items and because of people returning items after 90 days of purchase. It is not just Walmart that has this policy either, most stores have the exact same policy. You should be glad to even be allowed to return items without a receipt. There is no policy that says people can return any item without a receipt. It is a judgement call and it is left up to the employee at the returns desk whether or not you can return an item without a receipt. Pretty soon I'm sure most stores will start making it a rule that no item can be returned without a receipt because that way it is fair to everyone.
