Just would like to say that the Hitachi people did end up giving me the parts needed for the repair and Time Warner picked up the tab for the labor..it took a few phone calls but well worth it.

November 27, 2005 - Consumer Message:

61UDX10B..it has a defect in the convergence amp which occurs after 3 years. (when your 'magic focus' doesn't work) The amp goes bad and takes out the resistor because of poor thermal design with limited air flow around the heat sinks does not allow for enough cooling of amps causing excessive operating temp. degrading amps until they fail. Will cost hundreds of dollars to fix and you'll need to fix again 3 yrs. later.
