A little while back, I posted a complaint about Sears Kenmore Elite Washer. It has a terrible odor everytime I open the lid. It always smells like old mildewed clothes whether its empty or full.
Well I found out that the small pocket that you pour bleach into was never (in the factory) connected to the wash tub. That means that everything I poured into that 'pocket' went straight thru to the floor! The odd thing is, I normally don't use that feature. But the odor was so bad that I began using pine-sol w/almost every load. i used bleach when I washd sheets and uniforms. What eventually happened was the carpet began to disintegrate. When it became visible at the bottom of the washer by my feet, that's when I called a service man. When he removed the front of the machine, it was obvious. The black tube was dangling; not connected to anything. Now my carpet (indoor/outdoor) in mys ervice room is ruined. My home is just over 1 yr old. Everything was new. Carpet, washer/dryer, cabinets. Now they need to be replaced.
Now my problem is, I can't find my original receipts. I bought the machines 15 months ago. Sears only goes back one year in their computer. They can't find me. I have my bank stmt. proving the money transfer, but not the bar code they need to find the purchase. I have no idea what is going to happen next.

I sent the complaint about a terrible odor in my washing machine. I'd been smelling it for quite some time. I started adding pine-sol to the bleach dispenser because of the odor. I finally called a repairman to come and look at it even though it was working fine. He found that the tube the bleach/pine-sol is funneled through, was disconnected. That means that everything I poured thru that hole is now on my indoor/outdoor carpet underneath it. The ruined part is just starting to show. I can only imagine what t looks like under the machine. I hope Sears will repace it.

Over all, the machine is working good. It's barely over 1 yr. old. So why does it have a terrible odor? It smells as if a load of clothes has been left in it to mildew for a long, long time. I am on a well, for the 1st time, so I may not be familiar with some things. Like sand in the line. We had to put a filter on the water line not long after we bought it. The water was barely trickling.
That is pretty well under control now, but the odor is not. I have to put a cup of pine sol in each load to keep the smell down. If the washer sits empty for very long, the odor returns. I hate putting my clothes in a machine that already smells old & musty. It doesn't give me that 'clean feeling'. If the machine was old I could reason this, but like I said earlier, I just bot it a little over a year ago.
