I have a 2000 3.2TL with under 65,000 miles, which I purchased in 2001.

There is a known problem with the transmission, that at times when shifting at low-speeds the transmission will effectively go into neutral. This problem has resulted in Acura extending the warranty to 100,000 miles.

My problem is two-fold.

I purchased the vehicle, and live in, Washington state. The vehicle was built in Canada.

In normal circumstances, I would have the warrantly transferred from Canada to the US.

A US Acura dealership can not replace the transmission, since there is no warranty. A Canadian Acura dealership can not replace the transmission because the vehicle is not registered in Canada, and has had the speedometer changed to meet US requirements. The warranty will not be transfered because I have not lived in Canada.

I have been told by the local dealership to either trade-in the vehicle, or replace the transmission for $5000.

I love the car, and have owned many Honda made vehicles, but would have serious reservations about purchasing or recommeding one again if this is how Honda is going to treat a customer.
