Recently I communicated with various MCI reps about my newly opened neighborhood account. Inter alia, I was given a credit off of my calling card usage of approximately $85.73 which brought the part of the statement for calling card use down to about $16.71. This was good and I appreciate it. However, the taxes and surcharges for long distance service are $28.79 - almost twice the amount of the charge for using the card.

Am I missing something, or are the charges for taxes and surcharges excessive? Please help me out here.
