TRAVELOCITY LIED TRAVELOCITY LIED
Dear Sir/ Madam: I booked a hotel on travelocity.com. The hotel is the Days Inn located in Banning, CA. The dates of stay were Sat 05/28-Mon 05/30/2005. I was told by travelocity and by Days inn both both over the phone and in writing that their hotel cancelation policy is that I must call travelocity before 6pm on the day of check in that I wish to cancel. The reason I looked in to this is because I anticipated having to cancel the first night of my stay but maintain my reservation for the second night of my stay. I have a record of this inquiry in my email mailbox. I called travelocity at approximately 3:30 pm on Saturday, 05/28 and spoke with a customer service representative. We canceled my stay for the night of Saturday the 28th, and kept my reservation for the night of Sunday, 05/29. I have a record of this call on my cellular phone. When I arrived at the Days Inn in Banning on Sunday, 05/29 to check in, the manager told me that travelocity had not contacted them to cancel my reservation, and thus my credit card had been charged $105 for the night of Saturday, 05/28. Furthermore, they informed my that they had given up my reservation for Sunday 05/29 to another party and hence I would not be able to stay at their hotel. I promptly called travelocity's 800 customer service phone number and spoke to a customer service manager named Joanna whose last name I cannot recall. She searched travelocity's records and stated that she could find no record of my phone conversation with the travelocity customer service representative who I spoke with the previous day. She stated that travelocity had no record of my canceled reservation. She said that travelocity could not refund me the $105 that Days Inn had charged me.
