The Brick - Saskatoon, SK

My Mother-In-Law purchased a living room set (couch, chair, coffee table, side tables) from the brick about 4 months ago. She purchased it on the “buy now, pay later” plan. She paid all the necessary fees and taxes required at the time of purchase. First of all, the chair was damaged (legs broken off) when delivered. How and why ANY business would deliver such damaged goods is well beyond me. But, that’s not even the issue here. After that, she started receiving phone calls stating that she owed them money still. Confused as to why she owed them anything (she had paid all fees, as I stated earlier), she went to the store where she had purchased the furniture. They sorted it out and sure enough, she did NOT owe them anything, it was merely an error in their paperwork of some sort. Satisfied, she went home thinking it was over with. FAT CHANCE. Not a month later, she started receiving calls AGAIN, stating that she owed this money. Being as she works shift work, she was not home many of the times that they called. They even had the gall to suggest that she was home, and that she just didn’t want to talk to them! They called her a liar! GIVE ME A BREAK! Finally, they got a hold of her and told her that she supposedly owed them money. She explained that, no, she did not owe them a thing and that she had already cleared this up with the local store. They would not listen, and LECTURED her on the importance of prompt payments when owing money to a creditor! So, once again, she drove down to the store and cleared it up. AGAIN they said it was a mistake and that they had cleared it up for her. Guess what? Yep! They’re phoning her again! This time they started telling her how this was affecting her credit rating because she was being so late in her payments! What can she do? Can she return the furniture even though she’s had it for so long? This is absolutely ridiculous! I have no idea how this store even survives when they have absolutely NO professionalism or courtesy towards their customers. The Brick in Saskatoon not only has lost one customer to their incompetence, they’ve lost at least 20 who have witnessed this incredulous act of utter stupidity. Please, if someone knows of any routes she can take to get them off of her back, let me know! We need to help her get rid of these harassing phone calls! Thank you.

The Brick is the worse place ever. We bought a couch which was damaged, got a new one which when they carried it in broke a light on the ceiling and then damaged that couch. Finally a new couch came but they gave us the first one we returned (sneaky f@#ker's). Finally the 4th couch was okay. They dont care about you. Plus the salesman laughed about it all. I wanted to take him outside and give hime something to laugh about. I suggest never go there and contact the regional manager to let them know, but they don't care either.

i too have a complaint against the 'brick'. I puchased this beautiful red couch, loveseat and ottoman that i fell in love with, as i was contemplatng my big purchase i pulled out the back cushions and examined this set. Knowing that the cushions were removable i was sold, and thinking all the way home about how i was going to keep the cushions on the couch with my two young boys running around. THe lady Candace in saskatoon told me about a dent in the back only after i made the transaction (give her a raise!!)ALMOST 2 weeks later, after finally receiving my couches, lo and behold the cushions were not removable, the accent cushions were missing and in fact was not the set that i was admiring at all same color but not the set that i paid for in full! Oh so clever or perhaps by some mistake the sign was changed or to avoid legal action, the couch that i like i do not even know the name of thanks to the misplaced sign but this MURANO set is NOT the one i chose and not only that but to actually put a dent in another set to kind of match the deep groove that i witnessed on the couch that i saw is most likely another ploy that is utilized in this multimillion dollar heartless thoughtless franchise that robs from widows and single moms. Also I thought that I would be getting a factory direct product and that the one i "bought" would remain on the floor for others to "purchase" so thanks alot BRICK house for ruining everything! thanks a lot! I'll keep these detestable couches but i won't like it I'll probably damn the Brick every time i see them.. unless you come up with some plan, some way to appease the wrong that i feel when i think about how gypped i am. I liked those couches that had the removable back cushions, because they looked easy to clean. This set that I was sent on which I had to pay a large sum of $204.12 freight charge is the pits to clean. I know because the old set i have is that 'MORANO'style of which i detest because of its many crevices. I am one angry first time customer and this if this how i am regarded with then it makes absolutely no sense in supporting the brick when they don't support me as a valued customer, then they start passing the buck when questioned, so now someone is out there sitting comfortably on my red easy to clean couches with the removable cushions while i'd rather sit on a mat at home with my $1633.?? couches that have a 5 year $200.00 blanket coverage that i can't use. THANKS ALOT!!!brick,i searched the website for those couches and the closest is brook red and i'm so miffed that the 7 piece set was not mentioned at all during the point of the transaction the 7 piece set with tables and lamps for the extra cost of $100.00 , which would have been a wiser choice at $1799.00.talk about customer service with a two faced smile. THANK YOU!!!!!

I have experienced difficulties with them as well. I paid the balance in full of what I owed with a Visa cheque. They processed the cheque twice and of course the second time it did not go through. This left me supposedly owing them for an NSF fee which I didn't pay because I knew full well that my full balance had been paid off. They cancelled my Platinum card over this and lost me as a customer forever....

I would contact the Better Business Bureau, as they can act as an intermediary on your Mother's behalf.

Here's their website:

And thanks for this post - I won't be going to The Brick now!

If I was your mom I would get the receipts together including the documents where it shows she does not owe any money yet and I would file a lawsuit against the brick, as far as the brick claiming they have cleared up is proving to be a lie isn't it.

I wouldn't even at this point think about returning the furniture my angle would be a lawsuit for all the harrassment she has had to endure and threats.
